#votekc branding and marketing
I was really excited about this project—there is no such thing as too patriotic when it comes to voting and elections! It was important to the client that this be a non-partisan tool, and that the website was dynamic with a mobile-first mentality. It was also extremely important that the website be translation- and screen reader-friendly so that these resources could be more accessible to the visually impaired and non-english speaking communities that thrive in Kansas City.
First we started out with #kcmovotes, but later landed on #votekc to include the greater Kansas City area which resides both in Kansas and Missouri.
Stars, Stripes and Bullhorns
I chose highly saturated hues of red, white and blue to provide a pop to help grab attention, also considering it would appear on screens and in print materials.
Through exploration, I was inspired by checkmarks, bullhorns, and stars and stripes, and after creating a mood board, landed on a logo inspired by the "I VOTED" stickers that also incorporated some of these patriotic elements.
